Tank Storage Facilities Sea-Tank - Antwerp

Description

Work began in August 2017 on the extensive expansion of Sea-Invest’s tank storage facilities at the Port of Antwerp. Total, the French chemicals giant, is a joint investor in this project of Sea-Invest and its subsidiary Sea-Tank.

Franki Construct is responsible for building the foundations for eight new storage tanks and the associated containment basins. The giant tanks will provide a total 160,000 m3 of storage space. The tanks are to be fitted with mooring facilities and a pipeline to the Total refinery, located thirty metres below the HansaDock.

De Waal Solid Foundations and Aannemingen Van Wellen are also involved. A grand total of 1,456 pile foundations measuring between 9 and 26 metres must be installed for the tanks. The containment tanks require 113 soil-displacement screw piles, and 130 piles are required for soil improvement work. Aannemingen Van Wellen is charged with supplying and laying sand asphalt on the tanks.

This extension needs to be operational in 2019.
