WILLEMEN GROEP adopted the principles of LEAN a few years ago and today consistently applies them in order to improve project quality.
LEAN stands for building smarter together by focusing on customer value, eliminating waste, learning and improving, every day. In DBFM projects, we apply these LEAN principles from the design phase. With LEAN engineering, we ensure that every member of the construction team - including the client - clearly knows what is expected of them and when. LEAN engineering increases the involvement of all parties and ensures equality within the team.
During the execution phase, we apply this improvement process from the project planning stage onwards. Then, at the start of the execution, we look again at the planning, but this time together with the subcontractors. In this step, we will examine together how we can carry out the work in a smarter and therefore more efficient manner. This scope for input from subcontractors also helps them to think along in improving the quality of the project. Win win, in other words. In the meantime, we are also applying LEAN to optimise our internal business processes.
