This prison for 364 prisoners was built as a PPP project in DBFM on a site of 14.47 hectares. The starting point of our design strategy was to improve the quality of life of the prisoners and to reduce their detachment from the outside world. This is translated in various ways in the project: prison in the cloud, the wide corridors in the cell wings, the integration of art into the panoptic centre, etc. More than 1,000 m² of integrated reed beds provide wastewater treatment. The building has a ‘Very Good’ BREEAM rating.
