Willemen Infra is a leading, Belgian road construction company with a regional presence in both Flanders and Wallonia. An important asset is that we have all aspects of the construction process under our own management and thus fully control the execution. Moreover, our team of 1,000 well-trained and experienced employees are willing to work at night and over the weekend to make sure they get everything done in time. In addition, thanks to our own COPRO-certified production and recycling sites, we are one of the leading producers for asphalt and road concrete.
Kempen North-South connection - Kasterlee-Geel
The Kempen North-South connection consisted of two partial projects:
- laying the N19g between Kasterlee and Geel
- Reconstruction of the Geel-West entrance and exit ramps
a. - Laying the N19g between Kasterlee and Geel
Parallel with the existing N19 between Kasterlee and Geel, a new road was laid for through traffic, consisting mainly of freight. This new road connects in the north with the existing N19g- N123 intersection in Kasterlee and in the south with the new intersection with the Geel ringroad.
With the new road intended only for through traffic, there are no connections with the existing roads crossing it. To permit continuing east-west traffic, a number of the existing roads run through tunnels under the N19g.
b. - Reconstruction of the Geel-West entrance and exit ramps
In the reconstruction process, the entrances and exits to the E313 with the adjacent intersections were combined into two large roundabouts, with through traffic between Geel and Westerlo passing by bridge over the northern roundabout.
A new bridge was built over the Albert Canal, taking into account the plans to widen the canal. The new bridge over the canal connects to the northern roundabout.
The intersection of the N19 with the Hertalseweg was also rebuilt.

On it you will find info and photos of the milestones of the North-South Kempen project, with a film in which we take you through the building of the flyover in less than a minute. The pictures come from the webcam on the Geel-West water tower. In this way we look back in time. Definitely worth it.
