Koning Boudewijnlaan will be renewed across its entire width between Elfde Liniestraat and Voorstraat. On the stretch of road alongside the old fire station, Willemen Infra will construct a two-way cycle path and free bus lanes. In each direction of travel, the tram bus will have two narrow concrete tracks in a green bed. On the swimming pool side, we will construct a two-way cycle path and a wide footpath. For motorised traffic, we will again provide one lane in each direction. The entire operation will transform Koning Boudewijnlaan into a pleasant and safe environment for cyclists and pedestrians. The longitudinal parking lane will be transformed into a cycling and walking boulevard separated from car traffic by a row of trees and a green zone. The works are part of the construction of the new tram route between Hasselt and Maasmechelen. This is the starting shot in the realisation of high-quality public transport between the two cities. To get the electric tram bus up and running as soon as possible, a number of quick wins will first be carried out. The reconstruction of Koning Boudewijnlaan in Hasselt is the first of these. |
