RCC Roosendaelveld - Mechelen

Description

DBM project for a rest and care home for 120 people. Roosendaelveld is anything but a classic nursing home. It is intended for people with dementia and psychiatric problems. We have designed it so that it allows for small-scale, normalised living.

In addition to single rooms, the 15 units for eight people each have a living room, a dining room, a kitchen and an outdoor area. Each resident has a single room of 23 m² with a private bathroom. There is also a semi-public meeting and activity room, a brasserie and a garden. With an E-level of 37, the building exceeds the standard of 40.

And that's not the only effort we've made here in terms of sustainability. For example, we use the Clean Site System to better manage plastic packaging on the site. In total, we collected 100 400-litre bags of plastic, which we then deposited with the waste management company. By going beyond the mandatory waste separation, we reduced pollution and contributed to a more sustainable and circular economy. We also worked with the non-profit organisation Ons Tehuis Brabant. They employ mentally handicapped adults to collect waste on and around the construction site, so that the environment is clean and waste-free.

Willemen Construct came into being on 1 July 2018 as a result of the merger between Willemen General Contractor and the construction department of Kumpen.
